In a swift investigation, the Haripur police have solved a blind murder case within 30 hours, uncovering a shocking tale of deceit and betrayal. The wife of the deceased, along with her acquaintance, was found to be involved in the heinous crime. Police sources revealed that on May 2, 2024, the wife of the victim, Zahid Abbas, filed a false report at the Khalabat police station, claiming her husband had gone missing while repairing a tractor in Bhera village. The police promptly registered a case under section 365 of the Pakistan Penal Code. However, on May 5, 2024, a dead body was discovered near Khalabat Bypass, identified as Zahid Abbas. The case was upgraded to include section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code. DPO Haripur Sulaiman Zafar took immediate notice of the incident and directed a team led by SP Investigation Jamilur Rehman, DSP Circle Saddar Fida Muhammad, and SHO Khalabat Siddiq Shah to trace and apprehend the accused. The investigation was conducted on modern scientific and technical lines, focusing on the victim's wife, as a prime suspect. During interrogation, the victim’s wife revealed that she had conspired with her acquaintance, Maqsood son of Mian Raza, a resident of Mianwali, to kill her husband. Maqsood was subsequently arrested, and further investigation is ongoing. A spokesperson for the police said the police have successfully solved the case, exposing the deceitful plot and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
