Lawyer's killer sentenced to death

An additional district and sessions judge (AD&SJ) on Wednesday announced death sentence for the prime accused in the murder case of renowned lawyer Mazhar Baghdad and life imprisonment to another. AD&SJ Syed Umar pronounced the judgment, sentencing Muhammad Irfan to death along with a fine of Rs300,000, while the other accused, Muhammad Anwar, was handed down liife imprisonment with Rs500,000 worth of fine. Six men had attacked and killed Mazhar Baghdad, a member of the local bar association, allegedly over enmity related to the pursuit of a legal case. The murder case had been registered by Gago Mandi police in Burewala.
