Punjab has taken a major step toward digital governance, with 252 essential public services across 18 departments now integrated into the e-Biz Portal. The progress was reviewed during a high-level meeting held at the Civil Secretariat on Wednesday, chaired by the Chief Secretary of Punjab. Officials informed the meeting that the portal has processed 44,519 applications so far, of which 40,854 have been approved through the automated system. The government plans to expand the platform further, aiming to increase the number of online services to 300 by April 15. Addressing the session, the Chief Secretary directed authorities to gradually phase out manual processing, emphasising that all remaining government services should be digitised to eliminate the need for citizens to visit offices in person. He said the adoption of modern technology is key to improving governance and ensuring transparency in administrative affairs. The Chairman of the Punjab Information Technology Board briefed participants on new initiatives, stating that all No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) and permits will now carry QR codes for instant digital verification. He further said that the Maryam Ki Dastak programme has been linked with the e-Biz portal to enhance and centralise citizen services. The meeting was attended by the Additional Chief Secretary and other senior officials, while divisional and deputy commissioners joined via video link.
