The cases of sexual assault dropped by 56%, with four cases reported this year compared to nine during the corresponding period in 2025 in Multan, claimed a comparative performance report issued by the police on Wednesday. Police claim a significant decline in major crimes has been recorded in Multan district during the first two months of 2026. The report compared crime statistics from January 1 to March 10, 2026 with the same period in 2025 and shows a noticeable reduction in several categories of serious crimes. According to the data, incidents of robbery declined by 57%, while cases of car theft dropped to zero during the current period. Motorcycle snatching incidents decreased by 73%, while motorcycle theft cases recorded a 61 percent reduction. Police officials said the decline indicates an improvement in the overall security situation in the district. The comparative statistics further reveal that 13,230 cases were registered in Multan district during the same period last year, whereas only 6,724 cases were reported between January 1 and March 10, 2026, a decrease of 6,506 cases. Police also conducted more than 70 search operations in different parts of the district during this period. The operations were aimed at arresting proclaimed offenders, taking action against habitual criminals, dismantling organised gangs and preventing street crime. Officials said intelligence-based policing helped identify crime hotspots and enabled law enforcement agencies to take targeted action. The report also shows a decline in murder cases, with 18 incidents reported during the current period compared to 22 in the same period last year. In addition, robbery and highway robbery cases recorded reductions of 57% and 66% respectively, while other serious crimes also showed a downward trend.
